I have to interrupt our regularly scheduled Parks, Playgrounds, and Greenway Trails programming to share some interesting City Steps of Pittsburgh news! The Department of Mobility and Infrastructure has recently placed its list of upcoming 2025-26 Capital Budget city steps projects on the EngagePGH platform. The page will serve as a hub to track the design, construction, rehabilitation, and replacement of public stairs throughout Pittsburgh.
In addition to the City Steps page, the EngagePGH Homepage lists all open projects seeking community feedback to help guide the initial stages, as well as all active projects that have moved into the development or construction phase. These active projects are still open for questions and/or comments, but have closed surveys and project-specific feedback forms. You can also search for projects throughout the city in subject areas such as Accessibility, Parks & Playgrounds, Safety, Youth, and many more.
Using an email address, anyone can create an account on EngagePGH and follow projects happening in their neighborhood, near their workplace, or in an area or topic of interest. When progress occurs on the project you’re following, you’ll receive an email with details. It’s a great way to stay informed about current projects the City is working to address.
So, which city steps will soon be getting some attention… You’ll need to visit EngagePGH for all the project details, but the list includes:
- 56th Street (Upper Lawrenceville-Stanton Heights)
- Clairhaven Street (Crafton Heights)
- Dickson Street (Marshall-Shadeland)
- Frazier Street (Oakland) is a currently active project that will continue in 2025-26
- Ottawa Street (Mount Washington)
- Potomac Avenue (Banksville/Beechview)
- Downing Street (Polish Hill) is a currently active project that will continue in 2025-26
Photos below are courtesy of the EngagePGH page. Can you guess which flights these are? (Hint: they are all in the “new” project category. Answers at the bottom of the post!)
