Denny Park, Strip District: 2901 Liberty Avenue
Pittsburgh has many spaces that look and feel a bit disconnected from current times. Denny Park in the Strip District is one of these, and chances are, you’ve passed by it without much thought. Surrounded by new luxury condos, apartments, and commercial buildings, it’s a bit like an insect trapped in amber, a curiosity unable to move forward, unlike much of the surrounding neighborhood. It’s not that the space is disrespected or has lacked care; despite the play equipment being old and sparse, there are trees and benches, the grass is cut, and the trash receptacles are emptied. People love this neighborhood and clearly want to live, work, play, and visit here. Denny deserves some thoughtful attention and a useful second life.
