Manchester Playground and Field, Manchester: 1309 N. Franklin Street
We play games for many reasons: a game can be an exhilarating challenge, an opportunity to experience the joy of camaraderie, a brief respite from our work-a-day responsibilities, or to pass the time when we’re uncomfortable being still, alone, or quiet.
We start playing games when we’re wee-little kidlets and rarely stop until we take our final breath. Throughout our lives, games are everywhere we turn; games with rules, both precise or vague, games where players are secretive and unknown and those who proudly wear uniforms, and games that transcend language or employ coded terms to ensure exclusivity.
Whether we play alone or join with others, the games we choose ultimately find a place in our relationships, emotions, and memories. And that results in an infinitely more complex playbook than Texas Hold ’em, Football, and Cricket combined.
