Trip #164 Blanton Street to Minnesota Street, Greenfield, Pittsburgh took place on July 16, 2018, and was published on July 25, 2018.
Check-in time! How are you feeling right now, at this very moment? Be honest. Feeling good? Feeling cruddy? Feeling enthusiastic or bored or disappointed? What’s your physical body saying? Are you overheated or hungry or experiencing a pain in a muscle or joint? We zip through the days with such superficial attention to our states of mind and body that we often don’t even know what state we’re in (and if you say you’re “in the state of Pennsylvania” I’m going to give you a serious eye roll!) So ask yourself how you’re doing, and then give a serious answer. Just do it. You might be surprised by what’s going on in your personal landscape.
Field Notes: This is a little sidewalk flight that runs off of the larger flight leading to the playground and pool. It runs right along the retaining wall of Minnesota Street.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
