Trip #173 Greenfield Avenue to Alexis Street, Greenfield, Pittsburgh took place on July 30, 2018, and was published on August 15, 2018.
Some days, life is like a roller coaster. You’re up, you’re down, you’re feeling silly, and then you’re feeling sad. It’s easy to want more of the “good” feelings and less of the bad ones, but in reality, they all serve a purpose. As much as I love reminiscing about the fun times, the ridin’ high times, everything going my way times, I have to acknowledge that the most transformational times were the ones where there was nowhere to go but up. All of our emotions, all of our feelings, can help to guide us in some way, but it seems like it’s the unpleasant and painful ones that contain the greatest power to lead us where we need to be. Why is that?
Field Notes: This flight has a bike rail which is a very cool feature. Nice little neighborhood off of Greenfield Ave. on the Oakland side.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
