Dido Way, Hazelwood Pittsburgh Trip #185

September 12, 2018Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Hazelwood

Trip #185 Dido Way, Hazelwood, Pittsburgh took place on September 3, 2018, and was published on September 12, 2018.

The highway sign said “Travel Time to State Line,” but I accidentally reversed the first two words and thought, “Time Travel to State Line? What the hell is that?!” While I quickly realized my mistake, I spent the next several miles thinking about how exciting time travel could be. While there’s lots of history I’d like to witness in person, I think I’d prefer visiting the future. And specifically, I’d like to visit the “me” of the future and see how my memories and experiences have shaped that future self. Individually and collectively, our tomorrows are made today, so it’s worth treating each day like it’s important – because it is. Whether it’s going back in time or zooming into the future, where and when would you want to time travel to?

Field Notes: Very clean and clear flight. It was super quiet on my Labor Day visit – nothing but insects and Central AC units humming in the background!

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
