Trip #199 Angelo Street to East Warrington Avenue, Southside Slopes, Pittsburgh took place on October 5, 2018, and was published on October 15, 2018.
Unity isn’t about everyone being the same. Unity is about everyone being on the same page. It’s knowing what needs to be done individually and collectively to achieve a goal. Unity is a process, not unlike playing a song with a group of musicians. Each instrument, each musician, has a role. A song’s unifying harmony blends with and accentuates the melody of individuality and the result is a creation more powerful and vibrant than what a singular instrument could achieve. When we’re unified the magic happens; the sounds leap off the page and we all leap to our feet – to dance and celebrate what can happen when we come together!
Field Notes: Some of these sidewalk stairs that connect Angelo and East Warrington are sunken, but the path is clear and nicely maintained. The sign appears to be working – no dog poop in sight!
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
