Sumner Street Southside Slopes Pittsburgh Trip 216

November 26, 2018Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Southside Slopes

Trip #216 Sumner Street, Southside Slopes, Pittsburgh took place on October 29, 2018, and was published on November 26, 2018.

So often we get caught up with having to take the right path, the fastest path, the best path, that we neglect to see the myriad of options and opportunities surrounding us. There are many ways to get where you want to go, and they all serve a purpose. Finding yourself on a direct route today? Enjoy the quick trip! Chugging along on a route with a few detours? Enjoy the scenery! Whether you’re in the high-speed lane or crawling at a snail’s pace, traveling as the crow flies or meandering in circles, you’re still going somewhere, even if you don’t think you are.

Field Notes: Interesting flight with a sub-flight and catwalk that connects to the Stromberg Street – a little dead-end that runs parallel to Sumner.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
