Trip #306 Mountford Avenue to Biggs Street, Fineview, took place on June 22, 2019, and was published on July 1, 2019.
If you want the data points on a graph to trend in a positive direction, you need the energy to get out there and do the work that needs doing. Coffee certainly helps, but in the long run, renewable energy offers the cleanest, most efficient power, and each of us can generate an unlimited, free supply. To give yourself a boost, take a moment and think of everything you’re thankful for (don’t forget to include the baddies/trolls/haters in your life, as their existence provides opportunities for growth). Then give yourself a pat on the back and acknowledge the personal qualities that keep you working toward your dreams, keep you focused on your goals, and keep you watching the line that’s moving forwards and upwards.
Field Notes: This is the first of two raised sidewalks associated with Mountford Avenue that also have steps. This one is in good shape, reasonably clear and well maintained. I believe the street below is paved in Belgian blocks.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
