Marsonia St to Lafayette Ave Fineview Trip 307

July 3, 2019Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Fineview

Trip #307 Marsonia Street to Lafayette Avenue, Fineview, took place on June 22, 2019, and was published on July 3, 2019.

On some days, I see the path ahead, and enthusiastically embrace what comes my way. On other days, that path isn’t quite so inspiring or exciting. I might even have feelings of dread or anxiety about what I think the future may hold. But there are gains to be had as I move along, regardless of the mindset I have at any given moment. Whether I’m chomping at the bit, dragging my feet or wringing my hands, I try to remember the old saying; Nothing ventured, nothing gained. These words encourage me to go forth and venture, to be an adventurer in whatever way I can.

Field Notes: This is the second raised sidewalk with stairs – right around the corner from Trip #306 and connect Marsonia Street to Lafayette Avenue. This segment is having some structural problems as well as neglect. It appears the houses along this walk have street/car access through an alley that runs parallel.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
