Trip #314 Marshall Ave to Matson Street, Perry South, took place on July 7, 2019, and was published on July 19, 2019.
Are the worries that run through your mind rooted in reality or has insecurity constructed a vision you can’t pull yourself away from? Thoughts of “what if?” have the power to trap us, and before we know it, even mundane situations seem full of danger and uncertainty. Fear of the unknown has a way of clouding our vision, and soon, our waking hours are filled with demons and our sleep overrun by monsters. Heed the time-tested advice and call-out those doubts for what they are – untrue and unwarranted. A life lived in worry isn’t much of a life at all.
Field Notes: This is a quiet street and Google Maps shows more houses on Matson Street back in 2007. At the “dead end,” there is a small wooded area (which has a fire hydrant!!) and some sort of development happening on the other side. Maybe things are changing for this neighborhood…
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
