Trip #318 East McIntyre Avenue, Perry South, took place on July 18, 2019, and was published on July 29, 2019.
When progress is slow, it’s easy to feel disheartened, but this is the perfect time to call upon your inner-inventor to step up and help out. Use that creative mind to come up with possible solutions, plans, and schemes to battle those roadblocks that are slowing you down. And if you determine that the barrier is one that can’t be moved, then transform it into part of your landscape. Remember, within every eyesore, the word “seer” exists. Use that quality to look into the future, investigate your options, and act upon them.
Field notes: I think the build date on the East McIntyre Ave stairs doesn’t reflect the actual build date but rather a date work was done on the flight. At the time of this visit, the road was under total construction – looked to be PWSA repairing the old sewer lines. ???
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
