Trip #324 Buena Vista Street to Perrysville Avenue, Central Northside, took place on July 25, 2019, and was published on August 12, 2019.
The quest for perfection often leads us to abandon the perfectly good. It’s easy to fall prey to habitually thinking “this is not yet good enough” when you only have your sights trained on weaknesses and flaws (that may not be perceptible to anyone but you). Wanting to attain a high standard is an admirable trait, but are your insecurities and fears keeping you from showing the world your awesomeness? Embrace the perfectly good with all its beauty and imperfections (and if that’s a bit of a stretch, try offering a smile and a thumbs-up).
Field Notes: The road that shoots off of Buena Vista Street is pretty rough these days – the asphalt wearing away. Didn’t see many houses on this end but there are some houses closer to Perrysville Avenue.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
