Trip #325 O’Hern Street, Central Northside, took place on July 25, 2019, and was published on August 14, 2019.
Are you aiming for your highest potential or have you been convinced that it’s best to limit your hopes and dreams? How often have you heard that you shouldn’t, you can’t, or you won’t because of who you are, where you’re from, or what you have or haven’t done? Over time, we grow accustomed to wearing these chains of negativity; they become embedded in our very being. But beliefs get their staying power from YOU, and when you cast aside those limiting thoughts you’re set free to be your most authentic self, the self you want to be, the self you’re destined to become.
Field Notes: This is a continuation of O’Hern Street. It’s right across the street from Trip #324 – this flight goes down into the parking lot of the Propel School. Looks recently refurbished!
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
