Trip #332 Kincaid Street to Brown Way, Garfield, took place on August 12, 2019, and was published on August 30, 2019.
When you don’t know where you’re going or what you need to change, it’s best to take it slow. Give yourself time to consider the situation, and refrain from rushing ahead – even if you’re feeling that desperate need to fix SOMETHING. When you have the time to quiet your mind look at why you’re feeling so antsy and uncomfortable, you’ll start to understand the actions that need to be taken and the ways in which you can take them. Slow and steady doesn’t always win the race, but it might just help you to make smart choices – even if the process feels torturous at times.
Field Notes: Gas line construction was happening on Kincaid Street but the stairs leading up to Brown Way were open. Saw a few cool houses that were brightly painted and retaining walls featuring murals. Funky spot!
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
