Trip #334 North Evaline Street, Garfield, took place on August 12, 2019, and was published on September 6, 2019.
We live in a time when it’s so easy to judge. So easy to pass a verdict. Make assertions even when you know you don’t know all the facts. Anyone can be a self-proclaimed expert as long as they shout their ideas longer and louder than the competition. But the next time you’re tempted to ride on the high-horse, take a minute and consider an alternative. Imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes. Listen to the person you’re in disagreement with. It’s surprising how much you can gain when you hold on to those two cents – even if it’s only for a few moments.
Field Notes: This flight at North Evaline Street is all overgrown at the bottom. I could only see the top-most part where it comes out on Rosetta Street. This is a quiet, almost desolate section of the street that unfortunately has some illegal dumping on it. 🙁
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
