Kincaid Street to Rosetta Street Garfield Trip 336

September 11, 2019Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Garfield

Trip #336 Kincaid Street to Rosetta Street, Garfield, took place on August 17, 2019, and was published on September 11, 2019.

Setbacks and losses tend to generate anger. We become angry at ourselves for allowing an unfortunate occurrence. We often become angry at others for their perceived role in an unfortunate occurrence. We even become angry at inanimate objects for not functioning correctly during an unfortunate occurrence. How many times have we uttered “Stupid car!” or “Stupid computer!” (or something not quite so PG-rated) as if it were the object’s fault a malfunction occurred. Feel the anger, the sadness, the despair, and then try to move on. Accept all that is unfortunate and then look for the path that leads to repairs.

Field Notes: These newly fixed sidewalks steps that connect Kincaid and Rosetta have a really nice view of the Cathedral of Learning in the distance! There’s a yellow disabled-access ramp at the bottom and I’m not sure why as the sidewalk ends shortly thereafter.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
