Trip #340 Noah Street, Hazelwood, took place on September 2, 2019, and was published on September 20, 2019.
If it seems too good to be true, chances are, it is. As a kid, I was so excited when a Clearinghouse Sweepstakes envelope arrived in the mail. I was confident that I’d win all kinds of money and prizes as long as I filled out the long and winding entry form correctly. Surely, lots of other people would make mistakes and be disqualified, thus increasing my chances! But alas, that was never the case. Eventually, I realized that while babysitting wasn’t going to make me rich, it was better than waiting around for the elusive “prize patrol” to appear, and all those envelopes soon found their way into the trash.
Field Notes: There is a section of Tasso Street that you can only get to by driving through the Bud Hammer ballpark/recreation area. Noah Street connects this section of Tasso with its other half that runs off of Ilion Street.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
