Cedarville Way Bloomfield Trip 344

September 30, 2019Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Bloomfield

Trip #344 Cedarville Way, Bloomfield, took place on September 15, 2019, and was published on September 30, 2019.

What comes to mind when you think of your roots? Do you think of a particular place, time in your life, or a community of people? Even if the gusts of life have transported you to many different places over the years, look at your mental map and call out something good about each one. Even if the scales of memory do not tip favorably toward the positive, take a walk down those rocky streets, and search out moments that bring joy and appreciation into your heart. Like plants, humans can survive and thrive in all kinds of conditions, and it’s our roots that keep us grounded and nourished in whatever spot of the earth we call home.

Field Notes: A quiet little flight on a quiet, narrow street (Cedarville Way) off the main drag in Bloomfield. From the stairs, I can see across the deep ravine where the busway and train tracks are and up to the other side where the large buildings are on Bigelow Boulevard.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
