Trip #358 Goettman Street to Truax Way, Troy Hill, Pittsburgh took place on October 13, 2019, and was published on November 1, 2019.
The world is out there waiting for you. Feeling brave and ready to jump in? If not, ask yourself why. Are you waiting for the right friend to accompany you? Are you thinking you need to get in better shape first? Are you torn between spending money on an adventure versus saving for a rainy day? There will always be another THING to wait for, another THING to think about, another THING that tears at the connection between your brain and your heart. If you’re always placing those THINGS first, you’ll never get to live the life you want. This weekend, start creating a world of your design. Start that adventure. Start living your best life. And stop waiting on those damn THINGS.
Field Notes: Not sure if I got the right flight. There are two that run alongside houses on Goettman Street back to Traux Way but it wasn’t easy to determine which one would have been city steps and which one would have been private. They both looked similar but this one had less trash strewn about.
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
