Richardson Avenue to Bainton Street Brighton Heights Trip 360

November 6, 2019Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Brighton Heights

Trip #360 Richardson Avenue to Bainton Street, Brighton Heights, Pittsburgh took place on October 15, 2019, and was published on November 6, 2019.

A rising tide raises all boats, so consider how your words, actions, and motivations not only help to advance yourself but the people around you. Sometimes it’s the smallest of actions: genuinely listening when another is speaking, connecting on a personal level, or staying in the present moment instead of jumping to a possible future moment, that contributes to the greater good and helps to lift all of us up to a better place.

Field Notes: This is a very grand flight with several sidewalks and platforms serving as connectors between Richardson Avenue and Bainton Street. The hillside is very steep and this flight meanders through it. Saw quite a bit of illegal dumping along the hillside though. Looks like someone cleared out a house and pushed all the items they didn’t want out the back door. 🙁

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
