Hollace Street to Orbin Street Middle Hill Trip 376

December 16, 2019Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Middle Hill

Trip #376 Hollace Street to Orbin Street, Middle Hill, Pittsburgh took place on November 15, 2019, and was published on December 16, 2019.

There’s a familiar expression, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” While we might not be insane, when we’re looking to solve a problem, and not encountering success, it could be because we’re repeating similar actions or behaviors. When you become aware that this is happening, step back, take a few deep breaths to clear your head, and approach the problem in a completely novel way. Instead of looking straight on, look underneath or from above. If you usually scan from the left, start from the right. Do anything and everything to get yourself out of that repetitive rut, and you just might discover something different.

Field Notes: This narrow flight runs right between two houses. It appears a new flight was installed a few houses down that connects directly to the nearby playground.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
