Doak Way Perry North Trip 396

February 5, 2020Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Perry North

Trip #396 Doak Way, Perry North, Perry North, Pittsburgh took place on January 24, 2020, and was published on February 5, 2020.

When was the last time you had an entire weekend, or a full day, or even an uninterrupted hour when you released the preconceived notions of what needs to get done? Imagine what it would be like to be free of schedules, competing priorities, and the feeling of being trapped on a hamster-wheel. Can you conjure up an image of the person you want to be and the life you want to live? Can you peel back the layers of worldly demands and discover the person you truly are? Yes, you can. Hold on to that image and make it your reality – even if it’s for only one minute, even if it’s only to say, “This is who I am, and this is who I will be once again.”

Field Notes: Another quiet street that is close to #395. I did not go all the way to the bottom as the flight runs very close to a house/driveway and something tells me these stairs are not used very often! Don’t want to be that person some dog comes charging at because it looks like I’m trespassing.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling. If the location has an abundance of illegal dumping and trash, also contact Allegheny Cleanways, letting them know the location and the nature of the garbage. Thank you!!
