Trip #415 Adon Street, Sheraden, Pittsburgh took place on March 2, 2020, and was published on March 20, 2020.
Kicking negative vibes out of your mind can be a real challenge. But when that dark energy starts settling in, you need to force yourself to stand up, take a deep breath like you’re diving to the bottom of the pool, and start hunting for the thing that you don’t yet know you need. Imagine you’re searching for a bunch of hundred dollar bills your Great Uncle Sal hid but can’t remember where they are. Keep poking around through shelves and cabinets, dresser drawers, and closets. Flip through books, all the music that’s piled up, and the ancient shit that’s in boxes in the basement. Don’t stop looking until something catches your eye, your curiosity, in a positive, affirming way. Don’t stop until you’re able to say, “This is why I’m here today. To find you. To find you right now.”
Field Notes: A beautiful flight of stairs that also has some raised sidewalk connectors. The entire thing runs alongside several houses – quite park-like!
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
See the Risograph print of this photo and story in the Mis.Steps Shop.
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
