Trip #435 Tybee Street, Sheraden, Pittsburgh took place on April 19, 2020, and was published on May 6, 2020.
Why do you visit all these stairs? And why do you take photos of these stairs? And why do you write stories about these stairs? Why do you do this? Week after week, month after month after month. Why?
.
Because I like it. Because every visit to a new corner of this city makes me happy. Because every moment of exploration and documenting and writing fills me with a sense of accomplishment. Because unlike a great many things in this world, this one unwavering commitment brings me peace, joy, and a reason for being right here right now. Because this is who I am, and this is what I do.
Field Notes: This flight is right down Tybee Street close to visit #414. Across the street from the base of the stairs is a house with several inspirational/positive messages crafted out of wire on display. Good vibes here!
Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
