Trip #453 Crafton Boulevard to Clearview Avenue, Westwood, Pittsburgh took place on June 6, 2020, and was published on June 22, 2020.
Throughout my various travels, I’ve often seen signs for housing developments that read, “If you lived here, you’d be home by now.” These marketing messages often sprout up on roads with heavy traffic, tempting commuters into thinking that life would become more comfortable if they moved to that place. But these grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side musings are a moving target – there will always a place that’s better, closer, or more prestigious. A swanky new condo or a fixer-upper with historical charm may or may not make you feel happy and satisfied. Whether your commute involves walking to your home office, 30 minutes on the bus, or an hour on the parkway, the secret is your ability to feel comfortable regardless of location. It would likely fail as a sales tactic, but a more accurate message would be, “Wherever you go, there you are.”
Field Notes: This wooden flight is right off of Crafton Boulevard and up the road from #446. It’s along a bike path/walking trail and rather pleasant!

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
