Trip #455 Dale Street, Westwood, Pittsburgh took place on June 7, 2020, and was published on June 26, 2020.
You might not consider yourself a runner (in the exercise sense), but chances are you’re running from one thing to the next. We’re on the move from the time we jump out of bed and start searching for coffee until the late-night hour that finds us trying to fall asleep. Nature abhors a vacuum, and this is never more apparent than in our daily schedules. Our lives are packed full of responsibilities, both real and imagined. For many people, the start of the pandemic brought our lives to a grinding halt. But look how quickly we’ve adapted! In no time, we’ve zoomed into a new era of socially distant events, meetings, and activities to fill the calendar. I’ve often wondered why this happens. Are we merely trying to keep our spirits up and stay occupied, or are we running from the uncertainties and scary thoughts that fill our lives? Perhaps if we slowed down a bit, we could find some answers.
Field Notes: This flight got a re-build and is looking pretty sharp! The top is in a pretty, residential neighborhood and the bottom is on Noblestown Road at a bus stop.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
