Trip #482 Anise Way, Banksville, Pittsburgh took place on August 6, 2020, and was published on August 28, 2020.
While we do not have the ability to control the thoughts and actions or others, we do have control over how we approach each day. The future isn’t dictated by the past, but it is influenced by the present, so it stands to reason that if we want our tomorrows to be a certain way, we need to start changing our todays. This process requires a combination of routine maintenance of the “nuts and bolts” (Are we taking care of our wellbeing? Are we keeping ourselves informed? Are we living according to our values?) while activating our powers of envisionation. Envision what is not yet here and then imagine life within it. See it, feel it, hear it, incorporate it into all thoughts and actions. It only takes 24 hours for tomorrow to become today.
Field Notes: First city steps visit out to Banksville! This one is within walking distance of #484 but Banksville Avenue was temporarily closed due to street repairs and paving so I had to approach both separately. The road below is a main thoroughfare but the neighborhood above very quiet and pleasant in a suburban kind of way.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
