Trip #483 Woodcove Place to Kirsopp Avenue, Banksville, Pittsburgh took place on August 13, 2020, and was published on August 31, 2020.
We live in a challenging time, a harsh time when it is easy to lose whatever tenuous hold we may have in the world. Throughout our lifetime, many things may be taken from us, either accidentally or intentionally. While we may lose our home, possessions, family, friends, or livelihood, the interior landscape of our minds and hearts can never be seized or shackled without our consent. On the days when life feels like a rock-strewn desert, full of hardships and disarray, our inner world can provide the quiet strength of a forest, the steady power of ocean tides, and the expansive joy of a mountaintop view. Who we are on the inside is of our creation and under our control. When we stay connected to the place we know is right and sound, strength and perseverance will be by our side, despite the calamities surrounding us.
Field Notes: This flight is in the middle of a residential neighborhood but is in great shape. A tree truck is across the top but it is high enough to allow for easy passage through. I should report it to PGH 311 but it kind of looks pretty right now! Like a shady arborway.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
