Trip #485 Banksville Avenue to Louisiana Avenue, Beechview, Pittsburgh took place on August 16, 2020, and was published on September 4, 2020.
Even if we don’t like to admit it, we’re all guilty of ruminating on unfortunate past events. It could be something we unwittingly did at work, a thoughtless comment made to a friend or family member, or a past choice we now view with remorse. We analyze these memories, imagining alternate “what if” scenarios and dwell on the possible ramifications we may experience in the future. In essence, we keep these sorrows, errors in judgment, embarrassments, and injuries fresh and alive, thus ensuring they WILL torment us well into the future. But we don’t have to live this way. Instead of walking through our days regretfully re-living the past, we can instead choose to re-educate ourselves so that our mistakes are seen as a learning opportunity, a chance to grow and become better at who we are and who we want to be.
Field Notes: This flight that connects Louisiana to Banksville is a combination of concrete steps with one side of iron railings and one side of wooden. Needless to say, the wooden railings look like they’ve been knocked into a bit over the years!

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
