Trip #492 Greentree Road to Ridgemont Drive, Ridgemont, Pittsburgh took place on September 4, 2020, and was published on September 23, 2020.
Every street has a story to tell, but we need to be mindful of how we look at and interpret the signs, shadows, and nuances. A story shared with me may be different from one shared with you, and that’s ideal because stories are more meaningful when we can relate them to our experiences. You can look at a street from many different viewpoints with many different points of view, and each will share something unique—creating layers of information and meaning that tantalize and fill us with curiosity.
Field Notes: This is a short corner “cut through” flight that connects two streets. These days, it’s not used at all as the amount of knotweed almost completely covers it.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
