Trip #495 Greenleaf Street, Duquesne Heights, Pittsburgh took place on September 13, 2020, and was published on September 30, 2020.
There will be times in our lives when it takes a long time to get to where we want to go—longer than expected. Longer than desired. And when those times come, we just need to roll with the disappointments and upheavals, delays and changes, and keep trying, working, connecting, and being. Too often, we demand that our life progress in the most efficient and comfortable way possible. We’ve come to expect an overabundance of instantaneous gratification: goods delivered within hours and instant answers to almost any question. But there will be times when, despite technology and our hopes and plans, arriving ahead of schedule, or even on schedule, is absolutely impossible. And we must accept that while we keep trying, working, connecting, and being.
Field Notes: This flight along Greenleaf was lovely! The original flight was replaced a few years ago (you can see it on Google Maps Street View) and this version slices right through a very green area. If you look closely on the left side, you can see a deer standing in the shadows under a tree. Being there to see that was incredible.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
