Trip #504 Sewer Way to Redoak Way, Mount Washington, Pittsburgh took place on October 4, 2020, and was published on October 21, 2020.
This is your reminder that the world is a beautiful place. But by no means is it perfect. Never has been. Never will be. Just like you. Just like me. Just like every single creature you meet. This is your reminder that it’s the imperfections that make us unique. Make us beautiful. In the deepest part of our hearts, we know it’s the quirks, scars, and foibles we often love most about the ones we love. There’s beauty in their irrational, illogical bits—heart-bursting, tears-inducing, ear-to-ear grinning beauty in the imperfections. This is your reminder that the world and all it holds is your beautiful place: today and every day.
Field Notes: This is more of an asphalt-covered sidewalk with railings than city steps but you can still find a few of them along the way. The block has an old red-brick sluiceway for water run-off that would look a bit nicer if it wasn’t full of leaves and weeds.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
