Trip #507 Sioux Way, Duquesne Heights, Pittsburgh took place on October 10, 2020, and was published on October 28, 2020.
When I was in junior high school, one of my favorite songs was Joan Jett’s “Fake Friends.” Suffice to say, the lyrics resonated with my tween angst and yearnings for acceptance and loyal friends. Chances are, you experienced the same during your journey to adulthood. Fortunately, as time passes, we find our tribe and friendships blossom based on shared thoughts and dreams, plans, and schemes. Today, I’m offering a heartfelt “Thank You” to Lori B. because she’s a fantastic friend. Lori’s a gifted yoga teacher, physical therapist, and life coach, and knowing her has improved my mind, body, and spirit. She’s funny, loves cats, and makes amazing gluten-free, vegan desserts. Back when I was singing along to Joan and the Blackhearts, I knew it was only a matter of time before I found “real friends,” and sure enough, I did. And for all of you out there who still reading, when was the last time you showed your appreciation to a true friend? Now’s the time. Don’t wait.
Field Notes: This flight is connected to visit #506 and it was fun to visit these with Lori B. as she’ll be leaving Pittsburgh for northern Florida at the end of October. She’s been a big supporter of this project since it started so it was fun to have her come along and get a “behind the scenes” view!

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
