Norton Street to Dilworth Street Mount Washington Trip 520

November 30, 2020Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Mount Washington

Trip #520 Norton Street to Dilworth Street, Mount Washington, Pittsburgh took place on November 8, 2020, and was published on November 30, 2020.

Each of us can prevent or provoke. Fire up or damper down. Some days, we listen to the angel on our shoulder, and on others, running with the devil feels a lot more fun. We’re all a mix of positive and negative energies (at least we start out that way), and it’s up to us how to use them throughout our days and lives. Unlike the students at Hogwarts, we don’t have a Sorting Hat that intuits our inner dynamics and natural place in the world. Instead, we have to navigate and figure it out on our own. Where we belong, who our people are, what’s right and not right, are processes that take a lifetime to sift through. Whether we align with angels or devils, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Hufflepuff, we always hold some responsibility for the decisions we make and the outcomes they bring.

Field Notes: A quiet residential street that had several post-Halloween artifacts scattered about. There were also several friendly cats wandering around – always makes a visit a little extra special!

Love city steps? Get yourself the latest issue of Mis.Steps: Our Missed Connections with Pittsburgh’s City Steps! Each copy is unique and features 10 randomly selected “trading cards” of Pittsburgh’s 739 public stairways. Visit the Mis.Steps online store to see all issues and place your order.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
