Trip #524 Tuscola Street, Mount Washington, Pittsburgh took place on November 20, 2020, and was published on December 9, 2020.
With everything happening in the world, it normal to feel fatigued. It can be such a welcome relief to lie down on the couch and forget about the problems at hand. Taking rest is a good thing, but taking too much rest can have the opposite effect and leave you feeling even more sluggish than before. How to break this cycle of lethargy? The answer is closer and cheaper than a cup of coffee: walking. The wonderful thing about walking is that you can do it anywhere. Walking can make you feel alive, invigorated, and (dare I venture) even a little exuberant. Walk a little or walk a lot, stick to the sidewalk, or head to a park. When you swap the horizontal for the vertical, you’ll soon have a grin on your face and a bounce in your step. After all, walking is what humans do best.
Field Notes: This flight runs along a steep, dead-end street. There was a fun Tigger blow-up ornament bouncing around in the breeze across the street. Folks are already getting ready for the holidays!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
