Trip #541 Montooth Street, Beltzhoover, Pittsburgh took place on December 11, 2020, and was published on January 25, 2021.
I can lose myself in visual stimulation. Something catches my eye, and I’m sucked in. Everything else fades away as the object of my attention comes into focus, and time stands still for a few delicious moments. The act of savoring a sensory experience seems so out of place in our hurry-up, multitasking world, but the process of slowing down and enjoying the feast is simply magical. So whether you become entranced by paint swirls, the aroma of fresh flowers, chocolate cake, your baby’s soft skin, or that perfect three-part harmony, slow down, give in, and absorb it all.
Field Notes: Something tells me these stairs get a fair amount of use – they lead right down to Warrington Ave and are close to the central bus hub and “train” system that Pittsburgh has. I put the word train in quotes because it’s not very robust and only serves those living in the South Hills to downtown. Better than nothing I guess?

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
