Trip #560 Spring Street, Arlington, Pittsburgh took place on February 27, 2021, and was published on March 10, 2021.
Visiting a “pocket-size” set of city steps always makes me smile. These stairs remind me that in certain situations, a brief, condensed effort is all that is required to get from one place to another. Small actions, simple gestures, a kind word, or a meaningful glance have incredible power to transport a person to a better place. Be like these stairs on Arlington Avenue and offer a friendly boost to someone today. It makes a difference.
Field Notes: Another cute little 4-step flight of city steps on a busy corner at Arlington Avenue and Spring Street. I wish someone would adopt the little patch of grass next to it and plant some annuals or flowers! Would add a nice bit of color and help minimize erosion.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
