Trip #585 Como Street, Mount Oliver, Pittsburgh took place on May 1, 2021, and was published on May 12, 2021.
On any given day, we watch sitcoms, films, and TikToks that are carefully orchestrated to make us laugh. But consider for a moment the naturally occurring events that are just as humorous as anything intentionally scripted by humans. I think about the hyperactive antics of squirrels bounding through the trees, the “Beware of Dog,” who’s more interested in head scratches and good sniffs than guarding property, the cat who inadvertently rolls off the edge of the porch while scratching their back (and scurries off in embarrassment), or the robust dandelion appearing right outside the boundary of a carefully manicured yard. At its root, humor is a very personal and in-the-moment experience. Nature TV might not offer the rowdy, raucous comedy we’re generally accustomed to, but it’s still funny and entertaining in its own way.
Field Notes: Another pretty flight in Mount Oliver surrounded by big old trees, old stone retaining walls, and lots of green. It’s been such a great neighborhood to walk around in!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
