Trip #586 Copperfield Avenue, Carrick, Pittsburgh took place on May 14, 2021, and was published on May 17, 2021.
Before I see the pine tree, I walk into its aroma. It’s warm and earthy with a brightness that automatically makes me take a long, slow, full inhale. Within seconds, I’m fully dosed on terpenes, and it’s glorious! My brain transports me from a cracked and littered flight of sidewalk steps to a quiet forest with the rustle of pine needles underfoot and dappled sunshine everywhere I look. Suddenly, this busy residential street is of no consequence; I have the expansive spirit of the forest radiating through me as I walk up and down and all around. My energy courtesy of the wizened old pine, firmly rooted to the side of the road, who watches over travelers and generously shares its precious gifts.
Field Notes: Copperfield Ave is having some work done (water lines perhaps?) but that didn’t stop cars from flying and up down the street. Crazy fast! I’m guessing it’s kind of a cut-through to get to Brownsville Road which is at the end. Other than that, it’s a quiet, residential area.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
