Trip #590 East Cherryhill Street, Carrick, Pittsburgh took place on May 20, 2021, and was published on May 26, 2021.
Life’s journey is wholly ours, and as much as we may covet another’s path (or give thanks for avoiding it), the sun and shadow we encounter are for us alone. Every day, the ground connects with our feet, and a path is forged from the steps we take. Each footfall offers new possibilities, new adventures, or new worlds to bring into existence. And while we can consciously choose where to walk, we can never predict the outcome or where the path may lead. So as the world opens back up again, be willing to think about your life’s journey and what paths may await. If all you see is a well-worn, beaten track ahead, it’s probably not yours.
Field Notes: Here’s a case where the Polaroid failure worked out well! Adds a shadowy section to the brick wall (and its nooks and crannies). Expired film is a real adventure to work with! 😉

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
