Trip #605 Dartmore Street, Overbrook, Pittsburgh took place on June 20, 2021, and was published on July 2, 2021.
Is enhanced perception of lack of courtesy something that develops as one grows older? If so, I fear I’ve hit some sort of milestone. These days, I feel so thin-skinned and hyper-critical of everyone elses’ movements, comments, and actions, and the awareness of this change unnerves me. Am I morphing into THAT middle-aged lady who wears socks with sandals and wags disapproving fingers in the faces of those whom I perceive to be ill-mannered or lacking common sense? It’s like I’m trapped in a reverse molting process and transitioning from a light and airy butterfly back to a lumpy, shlumpy caterpillar. Why have I become disconnected from the brazen, rude youth I once was? How do I turn this unwanted superpower off?!
Field Notes: This flight was open but I think the DPW blockade was from the recent heavy rainfalls and flooding. This street is right off of Saw Mill Run Boulevard and that area is prone to going “underwater.” Nice red brick streets though!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
