Belasco Avenue Beechview Trip 631

September 3, 2021Laura ZurowskiFiled Under: Beechview

Trip #631 Belasco Avenue, Beechview, Pittsburgh took place on August 15, 2021, and was published on September 3, 2021.

Despite what our current state of world and national affairs would lead us to believe, most people are very much alike in their hopes and dreams, desires, and expectations. The majority of people both near and far share fundamental values of right and wrong and can easily identify behaviors and actions that belong in each category (and all the gradations between the two). While our individual processes for fostering the good and extinguishing the not-good may vary, our end goal is the same. Instead of feeling alienated by the news we hear, let’s remember that our causes and communities grow stronger through unity. We become more resilient and effective when we work together to embrace our similarities and our differences.

Field Notes: This final segment of Belasco Street winds past a “paper street” that now looks like a long-forgotten path in the back of the houses that still line Broadway Avenue. The building at the top of the flight is currently being refurbished and isn’t quite ready for new tenants…

Love city steps? Get yourself the latest issue of Mis.Steps: Our Missed Connections with Pittsburgh’s City Steps! Each copy is unique and features 10 randomly selected “trading cards” of Pittsburgh’s 739 public stairways. Visit the Mis.Steps online store to see all issues and place your order.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
