Trip #635 Kenilworth Street, Brookline, Pittsburgh took place on August 22, 2021, and was published on September 15, 2021.
What ghosts hover in the background of your actions or decisions? We often have concrete, foreground reasons for our behaviors (financial, social or familial, moral or ethical), but we can discover much more when we look further afield. Traveling the path of “Why?” for each rationale will gradually lead us into the inner core of our beliefs. If the journey reveals harmful or unpleasant apparitions, we can take steps to heal the wound and transform how we view ourselves and the world. And if the discovery yields friendly and affirming spirits, we can appreciate their presence and invite them to lend advice in other areas of our lives. Detecting these less apparent (nearly transparent) motivations and messages doesn’t have to be complicated – we simply need to ask the questions and then listen to the answer.
Field Notes: This flight is parallel to the one on Fitzhugh Way just a few blocks over. It still has the old, original fence and some newer “street art” that made me think of ghosts.

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
