Trip #655 Andick Way, Beechview, Pittsburgh took place on October 24, 2021, and was published on November 1, 2021.
“Sometimes, loves shows up when you least expect it.” ~ Toby, a former resident of Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, celebrating his one-year “gotcha” anniversary of living the good life with his new human and feline family in Beechview.
.
I met Toby shortly after his adoption, and I’m continually amazed by his transformation over the past year. As a result of having a stable, caring home, his physical appearance, behavior, and attitude are forever changed. If a canine fountain of youth exists, he’s undoubtedly found it because you’d never guess he’s nine years old! Of course, like many animals who experience home removal and time in transition care, he has a few physical and emotional scars from the past, some quirky bits and personal idiosyncrasies, but don’t we all? Happy anniversary, Toby! May you and your family have many, many more happy days ahead!
Field Notes: This is a cute little neighborhood walkway that connects Dagmar Ave to the Beechview part and the elementary school. Those two dots in the distance are Sarah and Toby. I tried to get the shot with them closer but the camera was not cooperating. I have to say, I like how it turned out! On the Dagmar Ave end of Andick Way, there’s an old Cadillac that is covered. While de ville translates to “city” an older meaning of the word is “settlement under the province of God.” Toby the rescue dog certainly ended up in a good place!

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
