Trip #677 Traymore Avenue, Beechview, Pittsburgh took place on November 17, 2021, and was published on January 3, 2022.
When it comes to modern-day Traymore Station, it’s true that you can’t get anywhere from here. The platform is closed and gated and signs admonishing trespassing surround the perimeter. If not for the public transit station, who would even want to visit a dead-end cobblestone street covered in potholes and puddles? Yet, despite the blockades, you can still venture a ways, even if it’s only up and down the stairs, like a ping pong ball bouncing between endpoints. To most, that’s not terribly exciting, productive, or forward-thinking. But sometimes, traveling a seemingly useless, pointless path is precisely how you get to where you need to be. Trust in yourself; you know the way. You can get there from here.
Field Notes: This flight goes down to a now-closed train station stop. The platform area is fenced off but the stairs are open (despite a sign at the top). Kind of a bummer why the stop is closed… I wonder why?

Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
