Duncan Parklet, Upper Lawrenceville: 700 54th Street
The Duncan Parklet has received a bit of a glow-up in recent years , and the enhancements show creative consideration for the hillside on which the park sits. While the basketball court has stayed in the top corner spot, there’s now a community garden with a small, winding path and a hillside slide. I just love finding playground elements like this one that make the natural contours of the land more fun! This is not a large lot, but the layout makes it feel spacious, inviting, and enjoyable. A perfect spot to rest before or after climbing the long flight of city steps leading to Woodbine Street and its Pittsburgh-perfect view over the neighborhood and out beyond the Allegheny.
