Trip #471 Plover Way to Valonia Street, Elliott, Pittsburgh took place on July 24, 2020, and was published on August 3, 2020.
Sixty-seven thousand miles per hour is the speed of our journey around the sun, and I know I’m not the only one who feels like our blue marble is careening out of control. An old world is vanishing, while a new one emerges, but to what depths will our collective turmoil take us? Love is secreted within revolution, but it’s barely noticeable as we rocket over the landscape, brains dizzy on speed, bodies wobbling with vertigo. If there’s a welcoming light at the end of our tunnel, I want to see it. If there’s an ancient tale describing how peace reigns supreme, I need to read it. Were it possible to stop our race to out-pace the Universe, we might rediscover both the love and the lover in our revolving journey and the collective equilibrium they offer. As long as gravity pins me to this spinning top, I will work to maintain my balance.
Field Notes: This is a short flight that goes down below the street to a sidewalk.

Want to visit these stairs? You can locate them on the Pittsburgh City Steps Plan website!
Be a good neighbor! Have you visited these stairs and found them in poor condition or that illegal dumping (large items like tires, old furniture, and construction debris) and trash were abundant in the area? There are two things you can do to take action and make our city steps cleaner and safer for everyone! First, grab a photo if you can, and submit a report to Pittsburgh 311. All problems, both broken stairs, and railings, as well as trash and dumping, should be reported to the city. You can easily do this online or by calling.
